Property Awards

Community Service
Awarded for programs that demonstrate that the individual property is responsive to the local community.

Good Earthkeeping
Recognizes lodging properties that have developed a culture toward integrating superior environmental management practices that improve everyday operations and the bottom line, while maintaining quality service and meeting guest expectations. Winning applications will clearly show the organization’s commitment to the success in achieving superior environmental success in two or more of the following areas: energy conservation, solid waste reduction, effluents and emissions, water conservation, purchasing, and business issues (e.g., guest demands, community issues, land use and development, training, and policy).

Special Event-One Time Only
Awarded for programs or campaigns that demonstrate a creative approach to scheduled events, anniversaries, charity events, holidays, or special publicity events.

Special Events-Ongoing
Awarded for programs or campaigns that demonstrate a creative approach to scheduled events, anniversaries, charity events, holidays, or special publicity events.

Technology Innovator of the Year
This award recognizes a property that has used advances in technology to optimize its performance.

Employee Awards

Outstanding Manager of the Year (small property; medium property; large property)
Recognizes exceptional performance by a supervisory employee to their subordinates, to guests, and to the community.

Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year (small property; medium property; large property)
Recognizes a non-management employee who goes above and beyond normal job responsibilities. Nominees are judged on outstanding and unusual service to the property, to the guests, and to the community.

Skip Hartman General Manager of the Year
Honors a hotelier who has demonstrated superior professionalism in operating an AH&LA member property and taken a leadership role in the industry by actively participating in association, community, or industry programs.

WIL Connect Leader of the Year
Awarded to a female hospitality professional who serves as a leader and role model within the hotel community. This award is not about the nominee’s amount of experience or title, but rather how she has spent her time in the industry.

Stevan Porter Emerging Hospitality Leader of the Year
Honors an exemplary lodging employee under age 30, who has demonstrated superior professional dedication, leadership, and a fresh perspective to their job at an AH&LA member company. This individual should illustrate “out of the box” thinking in their professional and personal life, and dedication to the industry by actively participating in association, community, and industry programs.

Nomination Form

Include a full description of the program or activity; including goals, implementation, and results in no more than four double-spaced pages. Submit any materials that substantiate the award entry, guest comment cards and letters, news clippings, and other documentation (e.g., company newsletters, news releases, booklets) for the judges’ consideration.
